On October 1, 2016, Gillis Fastpitch University will be known as Gillis USA Softball Training Academy. With softball getting back into the Olympics, USA Softball has picked from the best of the best, establishing training sites in the four regions of the United States. The Northern / Midwest training center will be Gillis USA Softball Training Academy. USA Softball is headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK – annual site of the Women’s College World Series.
“It is an honor to be chosen as one of the top academies in the country. We feel very privileged to represent USA Softball as we head into another Olympic cycle,” academy founder and six time USA team member Doug Gillis said. This partnership meshes perfectly with Gillis USA Softball and its mission to provide only the highest caliber of training while attracting top notch speakers, coaches and trainers for large events. Some of the things that set Gillis USA apart will be:
- Gillis USA Softball only employs instructors of the highest level who have been involved in the game at a world class level for a long time
- not simply travel / recreation coaches or ex-college players and college coaches of any experience level.
Also this year, Gillis USA Softball will announce the National Velocity XL Program for pitchers. The National Velocity XL Program will offer classes and programs in connection with building velocity while studying the results of various velocity training methods. This is an exciting time in the sport and Gillis USA looks forward to being at the forefront of the game.
